Have a Happy 4th!

Like most sparklers, these are extinguished after a short while -- with several large bites. To make two dozen, place 4 ounces chopped semisweet
chocolate in a heatproof bowl set over a pan of simmering water. Stir occasionally until melted; remove from heat. Using a pastry brush, coat the upper third of each pretzel rod in chocolate. Cover with sprinkles; stand pretzels upright in a glass. Place in the refrigerator until firm, about 5 minutes.

Here's to a Happy 4th!!!

Happy Father's Day!

After enjoying homemade hamburgers and ice cream with my father, mother and husband and our family, I am off to a church mission trip for a week....
The computer won't be going with me, I don't think, so my blog will have to take a break!
Hope all of you enjoy your Dad, and his day!
We'll have lots to share when we return, I'm sure!
Cheers!

A Wedding in One Week! (Part Two)

What a whirlwind weekend!
For me, my girlfriends and  "The Bride"!

Even though all the details were planned in advance, I rushed up on Friday -- packing a glue gun -- to help finish some of the final decor details for my dear friend's daughter's wedding.
She will be married this Friday evening at the new event venue in north Dallas -"The Piazza at the Village" - made famous by WE-TV's Wedding Channel "Platinum Weddings"!

Usually, most of my visits to Big 'D' are always at a much slower Texas-style pace - leisurely enjoying the sights, shopping and all that Dallas offers.
Not this time.

There were final checks on the guest lists.  Seating arrangements to be made.  Table cards needing labels.   Ribbons to measure and cut.  Feather hair pieces to be designed.  And made.  And on and on and on....
But, briefly each day, we were able to stop and take a break and layout by the pool, watch a movie, or go out to dinner.

So, 'cheers' to my dears (BFFs from high school), and 'congrats' to sweet Keely and Dylan!
As we say and sing in Texas...
'May the road go on forever, and the party never end!" (Robert Earl Keen)
P.S.  Here is a small tablescape of color I pulled together to make an impromptu inspiration board for the wedding designs.  Obviously, the bride's colors are 'perfectly peacock', so my gift to the bride and groom was a set of custom handbeaded cake servers, (a 'Serving Love Set' from my Bridal Love Collection on Etsy) that I was able to create one day while the bride was at work.    She will be using them at the Piazza and you can see them LIVE on streaming video at the reception this Friday, June 18, at 7 PM!

A Wedding in One Week!

My best friend from high school's oldest daughter is getting married in one week (eek!), so after a brief phone call today, I'm headed to Dallas, y'all, to help with some of the finishing details! Another dear friend of ours is already there, so after being given the 'green light' to pack my big ole' glue gun, I'll be outta here in the morning!
I'll be posting and blogging from Big ' D' and we'll show you some fun, and cool DIY tricks you can use in your own (or your daughter's) wedding! ...Who knows? I may steal a few for our big event in October!

Saddle up and let's head out,

Memorial Day Memories...

I was truly surprised this past weekend at how many people thought my red, white & blue was for the Fourth of July!  Excuse me??
What happened to Memorial Day and all the patriotism it represents??
Well, I put touches of patriotism on 'miles and miles of Texas' ...all the way to New Mexico!  Kinda.

Actually, I spread red, white and blue from my house to our mountain house, and a couple of places in between.  I even made 'Red, White & Blue Cupcakes' for the occasion, and a 'True Blue Salute' Cake for the last teacher's appreciation day at our local high school.

This holiday I hope you found time to think about, and to thank, those that helped to give us our freedom.  A small gesture, for such a huge price, don't you think?  A Texas Day of Celebration....
...and a simple mountain Memorial Day in New Mexico!

An End-of -School 'Lunch Bunch' Lunch!

As I mentioned before, I must share my lunch 'date's with you!

These guys joined me at my house for their last 'Lunch Bunch' lunch of their junior year (Yikes, in a few days they will all be high school seniors!)

It also just happened to be the birthday of one of the guys, so how appropriate that he gets 'surprised' with a birthday cake!....

Being goofy, and deciding to 'pose' like girls,  I think 'this picture speaks louder than words'!

I'm also a HUGE believer in party favors - no matter how old you are!

So, I sent these guys back to class with colorful little takeout boxes of candy, decorated with their school mascot and high school stuff...

After lunch and the photo session,
it was time to clear away this party, and get ready to plan a new one!

...This time it was for my Memorial Day party plans...so stay tuned!
