A Fab Flamingo Party for Adults

Flamingo Party
from Pizzazzerie
You know by now my motto is:
 Think pink!
So it comes as no surprise that I would also think to share when I stumbled upon this absolutely fabulous Flamingo Party, all decked out in my fav color - PINK!
To get started, do what the girls over at Pizzazzerie suggest:
"Ask everyone to wear something pink, and if you really want to kick it up a notch then get everyone a feather boa!
Serve pink foods like strawberries, watermelon balls, mini tomato sandwiches, shrimp, smoked salmon,
pink cupcakes or pink frosted sugar cookies.  We love Martha Stewart’s pink strawberry souffles – the perfect color!
We added in whoopie pies because (besides the fact that we were craving them), we loved the black and white to match the party decor!  So break out the pink, pearls, and high heels and enjoy a ladies night!
Send each lady home with a pink fizzing bubble bath ball as a party favor!"

Thanks to Phronsie at Pizzazzerie for reminding us, PINK is for big girls too!

How to Eat Chocolate? !

I admit it.  I am a chocoholic.  I'm not ashamed either.
I will eat my dark chocolate anytime, anyplace, by myself, or with a crowd -  and for no good reason.
Trust me.  I am an openly, happy chocolate eater!

So when I ran across this post on the uber-cool site 'CHOW', on 'How to Taste Dark Chocolate"   I thought...'You must be kidding!'  Hardly.
What I learned was something I never knew - tasting should be based on 'snap, aroma, texture and finish.'.

Meaning there's a whole lot more than just peeling back the wrapper!

Cotton Candy CrAzY!

Nothing makes me feel like a kid again, than old-fashioned cotton candy!  I even remember the smell of the spun sugar treat at the fairs growing up, as it went round and round in the canister, spinning like cotton, until enough had grabbed onto the paper cone to stick.  It was warm, light and STICKY, but soooo good!

So, in honor of our recent County Fair (the first fair after nearly 40 years!), I give you this delectable treat - Cotton Candy Cupcakes, by the Creative Hostess.  Get the recipe for the frosting here, and enjoy!

National Pecan Pie Day...

Really?  There's a national day for Texas' state nut, the pecan, combined with my other favorite - CHOCOLATE?  Who knew?
Well apparently Grace over at Grace-ful Cakes knew this because she has created the most decadent dessert I've seen in a long time!  A Chocolate Pecan Pie Cupcake! Whew!
Looks like a real balancing act to me!

Sweet Sticks of Fall...

In my mailbox today, I received the latest Better Homes and Gardens, the magazine that I've been receiving for 30 years.
I always love the new seasons, and each issue is full of the ideas that come with them!
This issue was no exception... great Fall ideas abound!
One great idea I found was the recipe for 'Apple Pie Pops'!  So precious! A fun, no-mess dessert for kids and parents.
You can see it here too, by just clicking above on the 'Recipes' tab.
I've posted the 'how-tos' on there to's an old favorite in a new way!

Happy Fall y'all!

Cupcake Bouquet!

What a wonderful way to serve cupcakes!  These little gems are the cutest yet!  I happened to find this inspiration on Pizzazzerie's website, and just had to share!  It amazes me what people can do with cupcakes!
Mmm...maybe one bite won't hurt!

A Pink Flamingo First!

Don't ask me why, but ever since I was a young girl, my most favorite animal on God's green earth has been the crazy Pink Flamingo!  Probably because since I was a child, I've also been crazy about the beach, making me one of the youngest 'beach bums', I'm sure!
So, when I found an adorable Pink Flamingo party for a child's first birthday- thanks to Kara's Party Ideas - I just knew I HAD to share! In fact, I'm actually thinking I'll be using this party theme with adult touches for my OWN birthday next year!

Itsy Bitsy, Teeny Tiny...

If it's one thing that I just knew would take off in the entertaining world, it was the idea of going back to smaller portions of food. I think we've 'maxed out' the 'bigger is better' attitude in many lifestyle areas, and truly, party food is one of them!
Well, here's a Tuesday Tip for you...recently, I was searching for some specific small containers for serving hor d'oeuvres, and found lots.  But to my surprise, it was the mailer from Pier I that really got me excited!  I HEART these!...
