Counting the Hours...

We are just a few hours away now from THE WEDDING, and there are tons of party ideas, drinks, food, and fashion - all related to 'the Brits'- surfacing on the internet!
One of the items that caught my eye, and reminded me of my own childhood, is the Princess Kate Paper Doll!  Too cute!  Does anyone 'play' with paper dolls anymore?

I can't imagine what Kate Middleton must be feeling right now.  Or for that matter - her mother!
I think every girl, at one time or another during their childhood, dreams of becoming a princess.  It's just natural for us to want to be 'the belle of the ball', 'Cinderella', or 'the beauty' but not 'the beast'!
So, when a real-life girl suddenly finds herself about to become a real-life princess, the rest of us can only wonder, and imagine!

As the royals begin the countdown, this week will undoubtedly bring the us tales of Kate's last days as a commoner.  But why only hear about it?

You too, can have your gal pals over to stay up and watch all the wedding wonderment (it begins at 3am our time), with a 'Royal Sleepover'!

A Tabletop of Color...

Easter Sunday is barely over, and I'm already reminiscing about the wonderful family time we had together.
It was 'different' without my sweet dad here this year, but mother came, along with 'Baby Girl' and her new hubby, and of course the 'Man-Child' and 'Dad' were here.  So, after spending years of hiding colorful eggs all over the yard ( and even the house when it snowed!); today a new tradition was 'born'.

No eggs.  Not one. Nothing plastic, real or raw.

Believe me, it was strange (and kind of sad) not waking up before the kids to place the colored eggs in secret hiding places.  Even stranger was the fact that they didn't mind.  In fact, if truth be told, they pretty much told me NOT to hide eggs, since they think they are too old for egg hunts now. Maybe so, but I noticed they didn't complain when they discovered their yellow Easter bucket party favors at lunch!
And as for me...I got to enjoy our colorful NEW tradition on my dining table - Colin Cowie stemware!!

The Final Word on Easter...

The 'fun' part of Easter is always about bunnies, hunting eggs and having a 'hoppy' good time, so, I think this simple rustic dessert table (from Lemony Cupcake) says it plain and simple....'HOP'!

'Hop' is certainly a good word to describe Easter......

...but my favorite word to describe Easter is 'Hallelujah!

Hallelujah! Easter is here!
He has Risen!

Here's 'hop'ing you have a wonderful holiday!

A DIY Easter and more...

One of the hottest trends in entertaining is the printable party items that can be found all over the internet.  There are lots of good graphic designers that are jumping on board this party craze, and honestly, I don't blame 'em!  This is where they can show their creative talents to the masses, and get paid for it!
I found a couple of fun, pretty and different ideas for Easter...and for you!  Hope you 'hop' on over to their sites to see more....and meanwhile, Happy Easter!

These designs are by Linda  and can be seen over at Fresh Home magazine (which I love, by the way!), and the designs shown below are by Kim at her shop on Etsy,TomKat Studio, another popular site.

Once Upon a Summer...

It's barely spring, but we've already got blazing temperatures, and that makes me think - SUMMER!
The quickest way to cool down?  Well, like we USE to do as kids - FIZZIES!

Yes, the latest trend this summer is one we remember from our childhood....that 'plop, plop, fizz, fizz' kind of  effervescent drink that had you wanting more~

"Nowadays, Fizzies is sweetened with sucralose (a.k.a. Splenda), and each tablet creates a 5-calorie drink.
The company spokesman, Chris Biggs, suggests plopping Fizzies into carbonated beverages like Coke and 7UP to create your own version of Cherry Coke, Mountain Dew, or Orange Crush. Even better, it's reported that adult consumers can pop a Lemonade Fizzies into club soda on the rocks with a splash of Vodka, and finish it off with a twist of lime.
Hello summer!

I'll drink to that!

'Jeepers Peepers'!

If it's one thing I love it's Easter!
Spring has sprung, and everything is new and fresh again.
One of my newest loves that has also 'sprung' up is Phyllis Hoffman's magazine, "Celebrate!"
This beautiful publication is a cross between Southern Living (a Southern hostess's handbook),
Sandra Lee's Semi-Homemade (which Hoffman Media also publishes) and it's own original party creation.
If you love to entertain, you will love this one!
I can't think of a better way to start the season than
with the many different ways of using marshmallow Peeps!

Shown Clockwise:  A 'Peep' Candy Wreath, a 'Peep' Parfait,
A Lemon Curd 'Peep' Cake, and  a Lemon 'Peep'-tini

Happy Spring, Y'all!

It's Aloha Time!

I had a fun time this week, pulling together a fabulous cupcake idea for a bridal shower in New Mexico!
When my friend, Susan, asked me to do Coconut Cupcakes for the couple's party, she simply suggested adding a pretty little edible flower on top.  But when I saw these cute flower cupcake papers in Dallas last week.....well, you KNOW I couldn't say 'NO' to them!  Turns out, that the party had a tropical theme, so we shipped them off with my bamboo tray, and now I'm just waiting to see how the party went!  We'll keep you posted!...
